A bit of statistics for Bitcoin

  • December 8, 2022

As of today, there are 106 million addresses in the world with at least some bitcoin. At the same time, more than 1 million people have already collected more than 1 BTC. These numbers speak well of the competition that already exists today for the 21 million coin supply.

The daily bitcoin network is used by 823,000 addresses. That is, user activity is less than 1%. A very large percentage of the supply is blocked on holders’ wallets, or lost altogether.

116 addresses are “whales. They have 10,000 BTC or more in their balances. Whales are a crucial part of the bitcoin ecosystem, and always convey a narrative of calm in times of crisis.

Every day about 275,000 transactions are transmitted across the bitcoin blockchain. This is good network activity, which confirms that bitcoin is in demand not only as an investment, but also as a payment instrument.
