A high-rise pig complex in Ezhou, a city in Hubei province, was built by Zhongxin Kaiwai, a company that used to produce cement.
Demand and consumption of meat in China continues to grow and so management decided to diversify its business. It is believed that about half of all the world’s pork is now eaten in China. Before launching such an ambitious project, the creators of Pig Hotels have calculated its productivity and profitability.
It is expected that the pig complex will produce 1.2 million slaughtered pigs per year (which is more than 100 thousand tons of meat), and about 650 thousand animals can be in the pens at the same time.
Computer “smart” systems will control every single process: temperature, humidity, oxygen saturation, concentration of toxic gases, ventilation, filtration and air disinfection, feeding, cleaning and water procedures. However, the involvement of high-level specialists is not ruled out to avoid emergency situations.
